Woo hoo! I am sooooo excited because we have officially hit the four week release timeframe. One month, baby! Super exciting. Thirteen Days Gone is with my editor and that means I will have ARCs ready soon. Raise your hand if you want one! Keep an eye out for that announcement. In the mean time, enjoy the short excerpt below!

Excerpt

“Kade left you alone. You let him.”

“It’s daylight. Nothing’s going to happen during the day.”

“Charly, it’s not safe.”

“If that’s the only reason you came over, it was a wasted trip. You should go.”

“You keep telling me that, and I hate it every time.”

She sighed. “I’m seriously regretting coming to you about my vision. This is not how I wanted my last days to play out.”

He clenched his jaw hard, praying he’d keep his anger in check. His hands balled into tight fists. He exerted so much energy to think his words through before speaking that Charly could see so clearly the torture he was in.

She stepped closer, her eyes sparkling with regret. The same regret she’d just announced.

“I’m sorry I said that.”

“You’re being honest.” He appreciated the honesty more than anything, even if it did anger him.

“You’re supposed to be at work. Kade will be back before it’s dark. I promise you I’ll be fine.”

He reached up and brushed her arm. She shivered at the touch. “Well, I’m not. I can’t leave knowing you’re alone. I’ll go out of my mind with worry. I won’t get a damn thing done.”

His hand sought the other arm, caressing it the same way he had the first time. Another shiver hit her body.

“I can’t sleep at night thinking about you. Wondering how you’re doing. Hating myself for making you mad. For constantly crossing a line I told you I wouldn’t.”

He lifted his hand to touch her arm again and she took a step back, preventing him from doing so.

“You shouldn’t do that.”

“What’s the harm? You can’t see my past when I do.” A wicked grin touched his lips. “If you keep insisting I shouldn’t do this and shouldn’t do that, I’m going to say you shouldn’t have told me I could touch you as long as it’s not skin-to-skin.”

Panic fluttered in her eyes.

Regret hit his system. “But I won’t touch you if it bothers you. I’d never hurt you, Charly.”

Her bottom lip wobbled. “I know that, Breck. You have no idea how much I know.”

He frowned. “What does that mean? And please don’t cry. I didn’t come here to make you cry.”

Her lip stopped wobbling, but the sadness still coated her eyes. “If you want to stay, fine. I’m cleaning the house, and I’d like to get back to that.”

He knew a losing battle when he saw one.

“Okay.” He paused, grateful to see some of the sadness leave her features. “I’ll help you.”
